052210 MY WISH: Pearl Spiegel-Yerike
This video was taken 2 days prior to my mother undergoing one tonic clonic seizure 052410, at the Sub Acute rehabilitation she was admitted to s/p admit to acute care for CHF. She turned 88 on 052310. The RN phone the MD 2 hours prior to inform him that her systolic BP was 188! When the call was return the Rx was for only 5mg Norvasc, 15 minutes later she underwent the seizure. This was a first documented seizure for her. All day she was complaining that she just didn't feel well, and her body temperature was high. When the ET's arrived they diagnosed her as stable, despite my telling them this is not her normal behavior and that she had just undergone a seizure. She was transported via an Ambulance, which stopped at each stop light, when she entered the ER they did not notify the ED MD of the possiblity of an ongoing seizure, so as soon as they placed her in a room she underwent not one, but TWO more tonic clonic seizures!!! Understandably the Ambulance did not have a health professional on board, because the person was not able to place any IV hydration port during the long drive. Life is not fun and games, it is is all we have, and very precious-this was a medical emergency! Since then she miraculously has been able to sit and speak, although with a significant deficit since that day and has been place in a LT nursing home by her POA on record:( She is very unhappy!
